Sales Manager

PHIX is looking for a Sales Manager to bring our packaging and assembly services to the market.


Company profile

PHIX is a packaging foundry for photonic ICs (PICs) and we aim to become world leader in packaging and assembly of photonic integrated circuits (PICs). We supply customized PIC based components and modules to OEM customers and system integrators in scalable production volumes.

For our packaging services we provide engineering support, which ultimately must lead to series production. This requires customer support from early involvement until account management. PHIX is a scale-up company that started operations in 2018.


Job description

As a Sales Manager you are responsible for the customer experience from the initial contact to the manufacturing phase, with a strong focus on customer development and account management. You are responsible for our customers and all Sales related activities. You know the stakeholders and technology roadmaps at the customer side and how this fits in with PHIX’s competences and ambitions. You are equipped with the technical knowledge to understand the customer needs and you team up with Sales Engineers for the required technical depth.


The key activities of a Sales Manager

  • Account responsible and understands customers business model and roadmap
  • Quote responsible/generation and follow-up with customers
  • Account management and customer profiling
  • Meeting with customers either online or in-person
  • Providing pre-sales and post-sales support, developing long-term relationships with clients through managing and interpreting their requirements
  • Negotiating contracts, terms and conditions
  • Teaming up with Sales Engineers, who translate technical needs to quote information
  • Attending conferences and trade fairs
  • Making technical presentations
  • Reviewing cost and sales performance
  • Aligning with all internal disciplines so that customer expectations are met, but preferably exceeded, enabling great customer satisfaction and retention


The ideal candidate

  • Has a relevant BSc. or MSc. engineering degree, a strong technical interest and the ability to understand integrated photonics
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a relevant environment
  • Understands what is needed to bring opportunities to a success from a Sales perspective
  • Has a commercial and technical drive, is proactive and works accurately, growing the revenue of our offering
  • Has strong communication and writing skills
  • Is able to bridge the gap between (potential) customers working in various disciplines and our packaging and assembly offerings
  • Is able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Provides creative solutions for researchers dealing with complex questions
  • Is a team player but also able to work independently, adapt quickly, and maintain a positive attitude
  • Is willing to travel
  • Has experience in CRM usage, preferably Microsoft Dynamics
  • Understands the importance of a flawless customer journey and monitors the customer satisfaction



  • Fluency in English
  • Dutch or willing to learn to speak Dutch
