Project Manager Photonics Packaging

PHIX Photonics Assembly is looking for a Project Manager to lead a portfolio of commercial projects in photonic chip packaging.

PHIX is a world leading packaging foundry for photonic ICs (PICs). We supply customized PIC based components and modules to OEM customers and system integrators in scalable production volumes.

We believe that early involvement is critical to come to the best results and therefore PHIX is also offering engineering support in the product design phase to ensure the manufacturability of the PIC based modules. PHIX is a scale-up company and started operations in July 2018.

Job description

As Project Manager you are leading a portfolio of customer projects. In these projects, we co-develop PIC-based projects with our customers with the objective to bring these into series production. The project teams you are leading are multidisciplinary teams consisting of mechanical engineers, PCB layout engineers, photonic packaging engineers and optical engineers. Your main responsibilities will be:

• Project management of customer projects and acting as point of contact for PHIX
• Identify critical items in product and process development in order to mitigate project risks
• Identify and document relevant lessons learned and areas for continuous improvement

Professional requirements

• MSc. degree in Photonics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in an industrial product development environment
• Experience in project management of product development or R&D projects
• Experience in applying Six Sigma in product development and process improvement
• Practical and pragmatic approach
• Capable of working independently
• Good communication skills
• Good personal organization and good reporting and documentation skills

Languages

• Fluency in English
• Dutch or willing to learn to speak Dutch
