PHIX is looking for a mechanical design engineer to support the design and manufacturing of modules based on photonic chips.

Job description
As mechanical engineer you are responsible for the mechanical design of photonic IC (PIC) packaging modules as well as the mechanical design of assembly tooling and fixtures.
- Mechanical design and ordering of components for photonic IC packages.
- Optimize product designs in cooperation with micro assembly process engineers to optimize manufacturability.
- Design of fixtures and tooling for different micro assembly steps.
- Performing thermomechanical simulations and generating reports for the packages.
Professional requirements
- MSc. degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in mechanical product design.
- Familiar with tolerance analysis, manufacturing standards, ISO, DIN…
- Familiar with Solidworks, and preferably with PDM.
- Experience in FEA and CFD Thermal Analysis, preferably in Electronics, is advantageous.
- Experience with optomechanical, photonic, or semiconductor systems is advantageous.
- Experience in project management is a plus.
- Practical and pragmatic approach.
- Capable of working independently.

- Fluency in English
- Dutch or willing to learn to speak Dutch
