PHIX Photonics Assembly in Enschede is looking for a mechanical design engineer for photonic IC packaging.

PHIX is a packaging foundry for photonic ICs (PICs) and we aim to become world leader in packaging and assembly of Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs). We supply customized PIC based components and modules to OEM customers and system integrators in scalable production volumes.

We believe that early involvement is critical to come to the best results and therefore PHIX is also offering engineering support in the product design phase to ensure the manufacturability of the PIC based modules. Job description

As mechanical engineer you are responsible for the mechanical design of photonic IC (PIC) packaging modules as well as the mechanical design of assembly tooling and fixtures.

  • Mechanical design of components for photonic IC packages (chip mounts, housings, fiber supports, etc.)
  • Optimize product designs in cooperation with micro assembly process engineers to optimize manufacturability.
  • Design of fixtures and tooling for different micro assembly steps

Professional requirements

  • degree in mechanical engineering or mechatronics
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in mechanical product design
  • Experience in applying 6 Sigma in product development and process improvement
  • Experience with PDM systems, preferably also in PDM system administration
  • Practical and pragmatic approach
  • Capable of working independently

Languages

  • Fluency in English
  • Dutch or willing to learn to speak Dutch
