Alpe d’HuZes, raising money to fight cancer

This page followed team PHOTON as they participated in the Alpe d’HuZes in France on the 5th of June 2025. Alpe d’HuZes is a unique yearly sporting event aiming to raise as much money as possible for cancer research and for improving the quality of life of people battling cancer. On a single day, 5000 participants cycled, hiked, or ran up the Alpe d’Huez, an iconic mountain in Southeastern France, world famous for its frequent inclusion in the Tour de France bicycle race. Participants in the Alpe d’HuZes attempted a maximum of six climbs, under the motto ‘giving up is not an option’. Since 2006, the Alpe d’HuZes event has raised more than 226 million euros.

Team PHOTON

To contribute to the fight against cancer, PHIX CTO Jeroen Duis formed team PHOTON with his wife and three friends. When they first participated in Alpe d’HuZes 10 years ago, they hoped that cancer would soon become a chronic disease instead of a killer. Even though treatments have since improved, cancer is still ruining the lives of many people. Therefore, they set out to participate again in 2025. And thanks to your generous donations, they exceeded their goal of raising €20,000 to advance cancer research and improve quality of life for patients!
